"The Painted Lady"
The Rae Lakes basin in King's Canyon National Park is perhaps the most visited in all of the park's backcountry, and for good reason. Stunning expanses of water meet Sierra granite right at timberline. Lakelets, streams, waterfalls and meadows can be found all throughout this region. Presiding over the entire scene are a handful of well known peaks, including the Painted Lady, captured here with corn lily just beginning to turn from the August heat.
